Frequently asked questions
Here are a few frequently asked questions that we have received from clients:
The standard skip hire period is usually between 7 to 10 days. However, we can shorten or lengthen this period based on your requirements.
A permit is not required if the mini skip is placed on your property. However, if you are placing it on a public road, you may need a permit from your local council, a process which usually takes a couple of days. One of the benefits of hiring a mini skip is that its small profile makes it easier to fit into tight spaces.
Take a look at our page on mini skip sizes to gain an understanding of how much rubbish each skip can hold. In most cases, it’s worth choosing a skip slightly larger than what you think you require, as most homeowners discover they have more rubbish than they expected. If you need any advice, give us a call and one of our friendly consultants will offer some tips for choosing the right skip.
A drop-door skip is a skip with one end that can drop down. This makes it easier to place heavy items into the skip and lets you load items using a wheelbarrow. It’s a popular skip amongst homeowners in Essex who are dealing with renovation, construction, or gardening waste.
Your mini skip should be placed in a location that is flat and accessible by a lorry. Ideally, this location should be on your property, so you avoid the hassle of getting a permit from the local council. It’s important to note that skips can be heavy, so they should not be placed on surfaces that are easily damaged, like soft driveways.
We offer same day deliveries 6 days a week, from Monday to Saturday. So if you suddenly realise that you are dealing with a mountain of waste, give us a call!
In most cases, we will be able to get a mini skip to your home on the same day that you call us. However, if you are going to temporarily place the skip on public property, you will need a council permit. In Essex, this usually takes between 2-4 days, so you will need to complete this process before we can deliver your mini skip.
You should only place inert, non-hazardous waste into your mini skip. This includes items like paper, soil, tiles, bricks, furniture, concrete, ceramics, wood, plastics, metal, doors, general household rubbish and so on.
Our mini skips cannot take hazardous items like asbestos, gas canisters, refrigerators and freezers, chemicals, paint, car batteries, and tyres. To learn more, give us a call.
